Blog One

It was a cool evening late in the fall but all of us were sweating horribly. It was football Friday and it was game time. We waited all week for this moment during the fall. Everyone got into football and we liked putting on a good show.
We were lined up against the other team. The coach told us to get on the field to return the opening kickoff.  I was lined up on our 10 yard line waiting for the the ball. The ball was kicked and it was on its way. I got ready to catch it. As the ball gets closer my heart beats faster. Then it gets to me and of course I drop it. Every players nightmare.
I had to spin around and pick it up as it bounced along the ground. When I picked it up I just took off running without even thinking for their end zone. All of a sudden I was through all of them and on my way to score. I ran as fast as I could fearing someone would catch me. There was no better feeling then the one I got when I crossed there goal line and scored that touchdown.
This had to be my favorite moment of playing football as well as high school. I probably liked it most because things didn't go exactly as planned but everything still worked out. It showed that sometimes you have to do what you can with what you have and its not always going to be given to you.

  1. Nice post Alex. It's short and to the point, but still full of insight. You are exactly right. We're not ever going to have everything handed to us in life and more often than not something of it will be a challenge to work through. Keep making the most of what you're given in life and college and you'll go far. Nice job!

  2. Way to be a football STUD. Don't worry, I can't catch anything!!! I bet that feeling was awesome and no one bugged you too much for dropping it. It's great that you didn't give up; a lot of people would have let that defeat them right there and not even try to run it.

  3. That's awesome! I have definitely had moments like that in sports. I've messed up, and then come back with a great play. I think those moments bring out the best in athletes, as they show that they don't break under the stress of having messed up, but focus on what needs to be done next.

  4. Great post Alex. It showed a lot that you overcame your mistake so quick and ended up making it positive. Awesome job not to get frustrated and make it into something bad!
